H.I.T.S: Ages 6-8
This introductory class is a low-cost tennis program for kids 10 and under that incorporates the fundamentals of a team sport with life skills enrichment. Focus is on playing, learning, and having fun. Not winning and losing. H.I.T.S. program builds friendships and engage kids with physical activity. The aspects of this program combine learning tennis with education. H.I.T.S. stands for Honesty, Inspiration, Teamwork, Sportsmanship. For more info visit: www.norcalhits.com ***Rackets Provided***
Academy: Ages 6-8
This tennis class is for children ages 6-8 who have completed the H.I.T.S program or who have received approval to join the Academy from Coach Cole. The class environment features smaller nets, lower bouncing balls and scaled down courts so each student can enjoy the game right from the start. Students will learn the basic FUNdamentals of footwork, grips, swings, spins and strokes through exciting team and individual activities and games. Parents are required to participate in the classes as needed by the instructor. To insure an enjoyable experience each child should come prepared to class with a racquet, tennis shoes, water and sun protection. ***Rackets Provided***
Academy: Ages 9-12
This is an introductory tennis class for children ages 9-12 with little to no formal training. The class maximum enrollment is 8 so each student gets adequate attention. The class environment features lower bouncing balls and scaled down courts so each student can enjoy the game right from the start. Students will learn the basic FUNdamentals of footwork, grips, swings, spins and strokes through exciting team and individual activities and games. An emphasis on learning the rules and proper etiquette of the game will also be addressed. To insure an enjoyable experience each child should come prepared to class with a racquet, tennis shoes, water and sun protection. ***Rackets Provided***
Academy: Ages 13-17
This is an introductory tennis class for teenagers with little to no formal training. The class maximum enrollment is 8 so each student gets adequate attention. Students will learn the basic fundamentals of forehand and backhand groundstrokes, volleys, serving and returning through drills and games. Students will also learn the rules and etiquette of the game. ***Rackets Provided***
Coach Cole has been playing and coaching tennis since 1998. He started off as a successful high school player in Oregon and then was given the opportunity to play college tennis for Portland State University and Linfield College. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Physical Education in 2007, he became a certified USPTA teaching professional and was able to teach at tennis clubs in Oregon and California. In 2014 he received his Master’s degree in Teaching and also became a certified PTR teaching professional. Coach Cole enjoys teaching group and private lessons for all skill levels and ages.
