ü SCTA Beginning Tennis Lessons (January - February and June – December, Mon, Wed, Fri)

The SCTA Beginning Tennis Lessons program is offered every month except March, April and May of each year during the Spring Sacramento Jr. Team Tennis League season. The program starts the first  Monday of the month. This program is for kids that are new to tennis, ages 5 – 18 years. Players are grouped by age (see date and time details to the left of this screen).

SCTA Beginning Tennis follows the United States Tennis Association's innovative Quickstart format enabling youngsters to play and learn at the same time. The kids enjoy activities that are age specific for children 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11 and over that are designed appropriately for the physical, mental and social skills for their age group. The SCTA Beginning Tennis program prepares kids to move up to the SCTA Junior Team Tennis League and the SCTA Academy.

The program is instructed by Eldon Wilson, Director of Tennis for SCTA. Parents are encouraged and expected to participate on-court during each session. This helps reinforce the child’s learning and helps keep the program costs affordable.

The SCTA Tennis Academy is offered year-round on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Tennis Director Eldon Wilson provides the same proven system that he used while coaching professional players on the ATP tour.  The lesson plan features on-court instruction, drills, and conditioning.  Competitive match play is a key component of player development and will be emphasized as players progress through competition in 10 and Under Tennis, USTA Team Tennis, and USTA and SATA Tournament play. Weekend Tournament and League coaching and support is provided to Academy players.
